TSA Certified Cargo Screening Facility |
As of August 1st, all cargo, including Human Remains, must be inspected before transport via air cargo. Airlines are planning to charge a fee to you, the shipper, for screening, to offset their cost. In addition, if you, the funeral home, have a pre-booked and confirmed space but have not had your Human Remains Cargo inspected beforehand, you will run the risk of the H.R. cargo missing that flight. This is due to the backlog of high volume cargo being inspected. Another concern for your funeral home; non-funeral service workers inspecting the H.R. Cargo.

We will inspect in a dignified manner and in a way that minimizes the chance for any damage to container or its contents. We already have a successful track record of serving as a "Known Shipper" for our client funeral homes. Cargo Intake Procedures
- Please make arrangements for us to pick up or for you to drop off at our facility at least 24 hours prior to flight departure.
- Human Remains Cargo can arrive casketed but not in an air tray or combo unit. It is acceptable for you to deliver the shipping unit with the Human Remains. The unit MUST be new and unused.
- Please let us know if you need us to supply the shipping unit.
- If you have made the flight arrangements, please have the itinerary, documentation and airway bill ready for our staff. Please have a check for the shipping or let us know if it is a collect case.
- If you are using us as your "Known Shipper", please make the check payable to Portland Cremation Center and we will tender payment for you.
